TrustedTech's Certified Support Services are built for organizations that need enterprise-grade Microsoft support without the complexity, rigidity, or escalating cost structure of a traditional Unified Support agreement. Backed by Microsoft Premier Support for Partners, CSS gives customers access to Microsoft's priority escalation channels, product engineering resources, advisory capabilities, and specialized services, while adding a dedicated TrustedTech team that owns the support experience end-to-end. From Microsoft 365 and Azure to Entra ID, Defender, Purview, Sentinel, Intune, and on-premises Microsoft infrastructure, CSS is designed to support the full Microsoft ecosystem with certified engineers who understand both the technology stack and the business impact behind every issue.
This guide takes a closer look at how CSS differs from Microsoft Unified Support, including escalation paths, Severity A incidents, and situations where Microsoft engineering needs to be involved. It also addresses access to Microsoft resources, including workshops, assessments, Cloud Solution Architects, Root Cause Analysis, DART, roadmap briefings, and other proactive services. The broader difference is the support model itself: CSS is built around ongoing technical support and guidance rather than relying primarily on individual support tickets, with an emphasis on resolution time, continuity, and better use of Microsoft technologies.
How Microsoft Premier Support for Partners (PSfP) Backs TrustedTech CSS
Question: What is Premier Support for Partners (PSfP)?
Answer: Premier Support for Partners is Microsoft's highest-tier support offering made available exclusively to Microsoft partners. It gives partners like TrustedTech direct access to Microsoft's escalation channels, product engineers, and priority case handling; the same support infrastructure that underpins Microsoft Unified Support. When TrustedTech supports your organization through our Certified Support Services (CSS), you are backed by the same Microsoft support tier as a direct Unified customer. The key difference is that TrustedTech owns the engagement end-to-end, so your team is never left chasing status updates or managing case handoffs on your own.
What's changing in 2027
PSfP and ASfP are being retired and replaced by Unified for Partners
Microsoft is consolidating its two legacy partner support programs, Advanced Support for Partners (ASfP) and Premier Support for Partners (PSfP), into a single next-generation model called Unified for Partners (UfP). ASfP is scheduled for retirement in January 2027, with PSfP to follow, and general availability is expected in late 2027. Rather than treating partner support and Microsoft engineering as separate layers, UfP joins them into one connected team: partner-led frontline engagement backed directly by Microsoft's engineering bench.
TrustedTech is one of the first Microsoft Cloud Solution Providers in the world selected for the Unified for Partners early adopter program. That means CSS customers are already running on the new model well ahead of general availability, with 30-minute enhanced response times on engineering-level cases through Severity Enhanced Response (SevER) tickets, full ticket visibility and reporting, and a centralized Partner Content Portal that helps our engineers close issues on first contact. Everything described in the answers below carries forward under UfP.

Question: Will our support cases receive the same priority as they did under Unified?
Answer: Yes. Within Microsoft's support process, PSfP cases are prioritized using the same severity and business-impact criteria as Unified Support cases. Priority is based on the nature and impact of the issue, rather than on whether support is provided through a direct Microsoft Unified agreement or through a partner.
Microsoft Engineer Access and Escalation Paths Under CSS
Question: Will we lose direct access to Microsoft engineers?
Answer: No. CSS allows direct access to Microsoft's escalation pathways when engineering involvement is warranted. In practice, 85.7% of issues are resolved directly by TrustedTech's certified engineers, bypassing Microsoft, which typically yields faster results than waiting in Microsoft's support queue. For 15% of cases that do require Microsoft involvement, they are handled through white-glove escalation channels available under PSfP. TrustedTech provides end-to-end support case management when it does have to go to Microsoft.
Question: Does using TrustedTech mean Microsoft cases take longer to resolve because of the partner layer?
Answer: Not at all! TrustedTech is not a gatekeeper to Microsoft. When an issue is clearly a product bug or requires Microsoft engineering, we escalate immediately without hesitation or delay. More importantly, as a managed Microsoft partner, TrustedTech has dedicated Microsoft escalation resources assigned specifically to accelerate our cases. That means when a case needs to go to Microsoft, our engineers work with your organization and Microsoft to reach a resolution. The partner layer is an accelerator, not a bottleneck.
Question: What about escalations for products or issues that fall outside standard coverage?
Answer: TrustedTech works through our partner CSAM to advocate for out-of-scope items when there is a demonstrable business impact that can be tied back to Microsoft. This advocacy path exists within PSfP in the same way it exists within Unified. A CSAM, whether associated with a direct Unified contract or with PSfP, can represent your interests for items outside standard scope when the business case is clear.
Severity A Incidents and Critical Outage Response
Question: What happens during a critical outage or Severity A situation?
Answer: For Severity A tickets and major incidents, TrustedTech maintains continuous support regardless of whether allocated hours have been depleted. Our response times for this category are 30 minutes or less. Major incidents are handled collaboratively between TrustedTech, Microsoft, and your organization, with TrustedTech owning coordination and status communication throughout. Your team's communication will be critical for these scenarios.
Microsoft Certifications and Coverage Across Your Microsoft Environment
Question: Does TrustedTech have the technical breadth to cover our full Microsoft environment?
Answer: Yes. TrustedTech holds all seven Microsoft Solutions Designations, the highest level of Microsoft partner certification available. These designations span Support Services, Modern Work, Azure, Security, Business Applications, Data and AI, and Infrastructure. This means your environment is supported by engineers certified across the full Microsoft stack, not just a subset. This is the same breadth of coverage Microsoft positions as a key selling point of Unified Support.
Question: Does TrustedTech have the technical breadth to cover our full Microsoft environment?
Answer: Yes. TrustedTech is the top global replacement for Microsoft Unified Support. We hold all six Microsoft Partner Solution Designations. We are also one of the few select companies that have earned the Support Services Designation. When a project still requires specific Microsoft expertise or resources, TrustedTech can also coordinate through its Microsoft partner relationships to help maintain that involvement where available.

Access to Microsoft Resources: Cloud Solution Architects, RCA, Workshops, and DART
Question: Can we access Microsoft Cloud Solution Architects for strategic projects?
Answer: Yes. CSS can include access to both TrustedTech's own solution architects and Microsoft CSAs through our partner relationship. For strategic initiatives or priority projects that benefit from Microsoft CSA involvement, those resources can be engaged through the appropriate channel depending on the nature of the engagement. You are not limited to one or the other.
Question: Can we get Root Cause Analysis on Microsoft-related issues?
Answer: Yes. Root Cause Analysis on Microsoft-related issues is available through PSfP. When a critical or recurring issue warrants an RCA, TrustedTech facilitates this through the same escalation channels used in Unified Support. The process and access path are equivalent.
Question: Do we still have access to Microsoft's catalog of workshops, assessments, and accelerators?
Answer: Yes. The same catalog of Microsoft workshops, assessments, and accelerators available through Unified Support is also accessible through PSfP. Moving to CSS does not prevent you from taking advantage of Microsoft's managed IP offerings. TrustedTech can help identify and coordinate the relevant engagements from that catalog as part of ongoing support.
Question: Can we still purchase DART?
Answer: Microsoft's Detection and Response Team (DART) remains accessible. DART engagement is available as a purchasable service through PSfP. If your organization experiences a cybersecurity incident or breach that warrants DART involvement, that escalation path is not closed off by moving to CSS. TrustedTech can facilitate the engagement through the appropriate PSfP channel.
Proactive Services, Advisory Engagements, and Microsoft Roadmap Briefings
Question: What happens to our current proactive engagements when we leave Unified?
Answer: Not at all! TrustedTech is not a gatekeeper to Microsoft. When an issue is clearly a product bug or requires Microsoft engineering, we escalate immediately without hesitation or delay. More importantly, as a managed Microsoft partner, TrustedTech has dedicated Microsoft escalation resources assigned specifically to accelerate our cases. That means when a case needs to go to Microsoft, our engineers work with your organization and Microsoft to reach a resolution. The partner layer is an accelerator, not a bottleneck.
Question: Can we still access advisory sessions and custom engineering engagements?
Answer: Yes. CSS includes advisory services, custom technical sessions, and assessments delivered by TrustedTech. Example professional service engagements include: Microsoft 365 and Azure architecture, security and identity, licensing optimization, cloud migrations, Copilot and AI readiness, governance, and infrastructure planning. Our Reactive Support services help to troubleshoot complex technical issues. If a project requires Microsoft-led guidance or engineering expertise, we can coordinate that work using PSfP hours purchased as needed.
Question: How does TrustedTech keep us up to date on Microsoft's roadmap and new features?
Answer: TrustedTech provides regular Microsoft update briefings covering key new platform features and changes relevant to your environment. This is supplemented by TrustedTech-led webinars and Microsoft Value-Based Delivery (VBD) workshops that help shape your technology roadmap. Continued access to Microsoft Learn and Microsoft event webinars is also maintained. The goal is to make sure your team is never behind on what Microsoft is doing and how it affects you.
Who Owns Your Support Relationship: The Dedicated TrustedTech Team
Question: Who owns our support relationship, and who do we contact when something goes wrong?
Answer: Each CSS customer works with a dedicated support team that stays familiar with their environment. The Account Manager handles the overall relationship and helps keep support aligned with business priorities, while the Dedicated Cloud Engineer (DCE) provides technical continuity and builds knowledge of the customer's Microsoft environment over time. Program managers and support coordinators assist with case coordination and escalations when additional resources are needed.
Question: Is there a focus on business outcomes, or just ticket resolution?
Answer: CSS is designed around the customer's actual environment and priorities. Your DCE develops an understanding of your Microsoft environment. We can then address future business goals and help mitigate current challenges and outstanding issues. That context is then leveraged to guide the customer's ongoing support. Regular check-ins and strategic reviews help keep the service aligned to those needs.
TrustedTech CSS vs. Microsoft Unified Support Pricing
Question: How is TrustedTech priced compared to Unified Support?
Answer: Microsoft Unified Support pricing is tied to an organization's Microsoft spend, so support costs can rise as licensing and cloud usage increase. TrustedTech CSS takes a different approach, with pricing based on the support services and capacity that support a flexible model. Service levels can be adjusted as requirements change, giving organizations more control over how support spending scales alongside their Microsoft environment.
Transitioning from Microsoft Unified Support to TrustedTech CSS
Question: How long does the transition take, and what does it involve?
Answer: The move from Unified Support to CSS starts with onboarding those employees (IT staff) who will be directly interacting with our support staff. TrustedTech documents who to contact, how to open and escalate cases, and where existing support responsibilities will move. The team also stays involved for the first few weeks to address any gaps that arise during the changeover.
